Homeschool Prom: A Guide for North Carolina Parents

Plan your student's first formal dance with clear answers about friends, tickets, dress code, check-in, and pickup.

Your student can have a formal night with friends, even without a school-hosted prom. NC Local Events has hosted homeschool dances since 2022. Here is what to know before you buy tickets and plan the night.

What first-time families need to know

Can my student come without a date?

Yes. Students can come on their own, as couples, or with friends. Large groups are welcome too. Each student needs a ticket and must meet the event's age rules.

What should we bring for check-in?

Bring your QR-code ticket to be scanned at check-in. No student is admitted without a ticket. List every attendee's name when you buy tickets. Entry to the event area begins at the published start time.

How do drop-off and pickup work?

Parents may drop students off, or students may drive themselves. Drop-off and pickup can happen at any time during the event. At the exact end time, music stops and students begin leaving.

What is the night like?

A professional DJ plays clean, radio-edit music. Students dance, take photos, and spend time with friends. Chaperones and security are present throughout. Snacks and cold drinks are included; dinner is not. Homecoming 2026 also includes a photo booth with props.

Can homeschoolers go to prom?

Yes. NC Local Events hosts formal proms for homeschool students and their friends in North Carolina. Students dress up, dance to clean music, take photos, and spend the night with friends.

Timing

When is homeschool prom in North Carolina?

Prom is our spring formal dance, and homecoming is our fall dance. Our next confirmed event is Homecoming 2026 on Thursday, October 22, 2026. The next prom's date, venue, and price have not been announced.

Homecoming 2026 runs from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at The Ridge Event Venue in Winston-Salem. It is for ages 14 to 19. For the next prom, join our newsletter for event and ticket news.

What is the homeschool prom dress code?

The homeschool prom dress code is modest formal wear. Gentlemen wear a suit or tuxedo with a button-down shirt tucked in. Ladies wear modest formal wear: dress length reaches the fingertips with arms relaxed, no deeply plunging necklines or backs, and no inappropriately short dresses. Strapless is acceptable if the neckline and back requirements are met.

Safety

How are homeschool dances kept safe and supervised?

Chaperones and security are present throughout the event. A professional DJ plays clean, radio-edit music. Alcohol, drugs, smoking, vaping, weapons, and misconduct are not allowed. Neither are public displays of affection or inappropriate dancing.

Outside food and drinks are not allowed. Read the full event rules before buying so your student knows what to expect.

Homecoming 2026 tickets are $70 plus booking fee per student. The next prom's price has not been announced. Each attendee needs a separate ticket for each event.

Our home base is the Piedmont Triad. Past proms have taken place in Kernersville, Trinity, and Greensboro. Enchanted Starlight 2026 also included a Triangle event at Carver Lake Venue in Prospect Hill. The next prom's venue has not been announced.

Yes. NC Local Events is a Christian, faith-based organization. Our events feature clean music, modest formal dress, and chaperones and security. We are non-denominational, and students of any background are welcome.
